Question:

Answer:

What can be more fun than a BEATLES puppet show??

NOTHING, except the actual BEATLES themselves!!
Since 1997, Bob Abdou has become a family staple of Beatlefest, the official Beatles convention. This show entertains young and old alike as he brings the next best thing to the actual Beatles-His Beatles Puppets!! The show has been performed in New York, Chicago Orlando, Nashville, Boston and Los Angeles each year since 1997 with tons of laughs, puppets, audience participation and of course,

The BEATLES!!

New acts are added each year to make the show fresh and exciting. This year meet Mr.Killjoy, a parent from 1964 who is NOT a Beatles fan, Mr. Killjoy sings "Pop hates the Beatles", funny funny act. Also new for 2006 a talking Beatle album and a marionette of Sir Paul McCartney that will meet you at the convention. This is a sight to see.
Here is a preview of what you would see at a BEATLE puppet show.

One of the highlights of my life each year happens at the Fest for Beatles Fans. Imagine 3 days of Pure Beatles music, nothing but John, Paul, George and Ringo. Every Saturday night at the Fest, Every staff and guest involved in the Fest gets up on stage and sings "Hey Jude" to a packed house. Here I am (with the help of Andrew) getting all 4 Beatle puppets on stage also singing along. At this particular Fest 2006 in NY, was the first time all 4 Beatles made it on stage, It was a night I will never forget.

Bob interviewing George Harrison, a hand puppet performed by a young audience member, the unscripted interview is answered by the young audience member. Kids will say the darnest things in this segment of the show. The boy working the George Harrison puppet is actually a relative, it is Lousie Harrison's (George's sister) grandson Tory.

Ringo sings "Octopus Garden" with another audience member assisting with an octopus marionette puppet. The whole audience also sings along.
Singing a duet with Sir Paul McCartney. In this part of the show, Bob puts a mouth moving mask on a Sir Paul fan, and they all sing "When I am 64" with some silly song changes unknown to Sir Paul.

Meet Mr. Killjoy, he is NOT a Beatles fan. He is a father stuck in the year 1964 that doesn't understand what all the comotion is about with these 4 lads from Liverpool with long hair. This funny routine performed with the music by Allan Sherman called "Pop hates the Beatles." In this photo, Mr. Killjoy sings:

(to the tune of "Pop goes the weasel")
There's Beatle books and T-shirts and rings,
And one thing and another.
To buy my daughter all of these,
I had to sell her brother.

In this John Lennon segment, in this picture with the 1964 version John, an audience member dresses up like Elvis, and since John was a big Elvis fan, we all sing "Blue Suede Shoes". This part of the show is a hoot as the Elvis dressed BEATLE fan acts and moves just like the King. John always comments that the audience member sings better than Yoko!!
A blast from the past, let us take you back to 1965 when only Paul McCartney was on the stage alone singing "Yesterday" A special setting is needed for this bit but well worth it, a HUGE success at the 2006 Fest for Beatles fans in NY.

On one concluding part of the show, 4 audience members reenact the famous Ed Sullivan show which featured the BEATLES on February 9, 1964. Using humanette puppets, these audience members lip-sync to "Twist and Shout" as the audience dances.
A funny site and a Kodak moment!!
One of my proudest moments in my career is being the opening act for the Roaches at the House of Blues
(the Tabernacle) here in Atlanta for the re-release of the Yellow submarine movie. This is a back shot of a full house with me and Ringo doing our silly routine.

Since Ringo was the silly one, I use him to do walkaround and shtick with great responses from the audience.

My puppets aren't the only look-a-likes at BEATLEFEST. Here with my Sgt. Pepper puppets are
Paul (Mike Oltersdorf from Colorado) and John (Bill Fox from Ohio).

Before John Lennon began the BEATLES, he was in a band called the Quarrymen. Here with my Abbey Road version John Lennon puppet is original band member of the Quarrymen and personal friend of the real John Lennon,
Mr. Len Garry from Britain.
Even before Chicago BEATLEFEST, I brought my BEATLE puppets to the 2000 year Ventriloquist convention in Kentucky. Here I am with dear friend Jay Hurwitz from Seattle and his dummy and one of my favorites, Gigi.

One of my dearest friends and Fan of my BEATLE show, Marianne Ruggeri from
New York. Here she is with her favorite,
John Lennon. Also Marianne is wearing our BEATLE puppet shirt that has all 4 BEATLES performing on it.

"At our Beatle shows,
a splendid time is guaranteed for all."
